Dr. Hutnik is a professor and chair in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University and Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at the Ivey Eye Institute in London, Ontario, Canada. 

Dr. Hutnik holds the inaugural Marcel and Louise Brunette Chair in Ophthalmology at Western. She is also the Chair of the Governing Committee of the Academic Medical Association of Southwestern Ontario (AMOSO), the Academic Representative of the Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (EPSO), and a Board member of the Glaucoma Research Society of Canada. Her major research interest is focused on the pathophysiology and management of glaucoma. She continues to have a keen interest in the development of novel and/or optimization of existing treatments for patients with glaucoma. 

Believing strongly in collaborative models of eye care, she is proud to be the co-creator of the London and District Interprofessional Model of Care (LDIM), which aims to improve access to care for patients with glaucoma. In 2023, she was elected to the fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, which is recognized as one of the highest honours granted to scholars in Canada. 

I graduated from Cairo University medical school in 1985 and completed Ophthalmology training in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK. I obtained FRCS degree from Edinburgh in 1992 then completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto in 1996.I  have been practicing most subspecialties in Pediatric Ophthalmology since then. I joined the Ivey Eye Institute in 2007 and I am currently an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at Western University. My interests are Pediatric and adult strabismus, Pediatric cataract, Pediatric Oculoplastic, and Pediatric medical Ophthalmology in general. I am particularly interested in functional outcomes of Pediatric esotropia surgery and all the factors affecting it.

Dr. Sharan specializes in pediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus, and treats pediatric glaucoma patients. She currently holds the position of associate professor at Western University and was Director of the Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum for Ophthalmology until 2022.

Dr. Sharan has undergone broad training. After finishing medical school and an ophthalmology residency in India, she fellowship trained in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Save Sight Institute/Sydney Eye Hospital, University of Sydney and then at the IWK Health Centre, Dalhousie University, Halifax. 

Dr. Sharan is also trained in glaucoma with fellowship training at Toronto Western Hospital, University of Toronto. She has a keen interest in teaching and a special research interest in pediatric glaucoma.

Dr Yiannis Iordanous is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology. He currently practices at the Ivey Eye Institute, located in St Joseph’s Health Care London, and at Laser Vision London. He holds the rank of associate professor at the University of Western Ontario. He undertook his undergraduate studies in life sciences at the University of Toronto, followed by medical school and ophthalmology residency at the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University. He then went on to complete fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the University of Ottawa. 

Dr Iordanous has a strong interest in medical education and completed his Masters in Health Professions Education (MHPE) in 2021 through a program jointly offered by Western University and the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. He recently completed his term as Ophthalmology Residency Program Director at Western University. 

When not attending to his busy practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children.
